When you start trying to practice better health habits, the first few days are always the hardest. I knew that. I’ve been working out at Anytime Fitness (mostly on the elliptical) for a couple weeks now – so I’ve been kind of sore. I saw a massage therapist, which helped my back but also breaks up all the crud in your system until you flush it out (that’s why you’re supposed to drink a lot of water.) I’ve been drinking “NutriBlasts” to get lots of healthy stuff into my diet – which are not delicious and do not give me the insta-buzz a nice Americano does. And the past two nights, I’ve gone to bed at an indecently early hour so I get enough sleep. It has not been especially fun.
What I forgot is that there’s usually a day, fairly early on, where your body rewards you for being nice to it by suddenly FEELING REALLY GOOD. Your energy level is up (without crashing), your mood is happy, and you kinda sorta like yourself more than you have in a while.
So I’m just gonna leave this here, as an encouragement to anybody who might also have started some healthy habits this new year. Hang in there. Eventually, you will feel awesome.
