Later today, That Darn Kat will look a little different than usual. Regular reader friends will know that I play around with the theme fairly frequently, but there’s a good reason for this temporary re-face.
We got some bad news a week or so ago. Miss June, Allen’s meat counter person extraordinaire and mom to Chris’ best friend Daniel, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. I felt really bad because they had a yard sale to raise funds for treatment for her this weekend, and I totally forgot to take the stuff over I had planned to bring out for the sale. (Everybody smack their personal Kat voodoo doll in the head now.)
So since October is actually Breast Cancer Awareness month, I’m at least going to take the blog pink for October, and
I’m going to try to find a little “Donate” button thingy so that anyone who wants to (and there’s NO pressure here) can donate whatever they see fit to breast cancer research.
Added later: Hindsight being 20/20… I felt a little weird about the donate button. Let’s just let the theme:
- Serve as a reminder to my lady reader friends to do REGULAR breast exams and appropriate mammograms as your health care provider recommends.
- Serve as a reminder to pray for women who are undergoing treatment or are survivors of breast cancer.
- Leave it to the judgment of individuals to determine how and where to support breast cancer awareness and research.
And hey, if you hate pink–there’s always the theme dropdown. Your browser should remember what theme you’ve selected last between visits. 🙂
