If you lived where I live, you would know all about the NCAA basketball tournament. Because I live wedged right up in the middle between IU, UofL and UK fandoms. In fact, as I write this, my husband is yelling at the television in the throes of March Madness.
However, when I say March Madness, I mean this particular March has been EPIC CRAZYBALLS.
I wrote a space adventure story with exploding cocktails! I started two other stories! One of which is a monster movie/southern gothic mashup based loosely on The Creature from the Black Lagoon set in Kentucky. The other is a steampunk retelling of Snow White, set at a turn-of-the-century traveling circus where the princess is a magician’s daughter, the wicked queen is an out-of-control diva aerialist, and the handsome prince just might wield wicked knife throwing skills.
My first work available in paperback got resurrected from production limbo and returned to me for final line edits. And I got some news for work that I can’t share here yet, but I was so excited I nearly wet my pants.
And if that wasn’t enough March Madness, I have just released my March eBook, which turned out to be not the Monster Mashup, nor another steampunk fairy tale, but… the space adventure story I wrote for submission. It wasn’t quite right for that publisher’s anthology, but it’s PERFECT for my March eBook, since it’s DONE. Also, it’s perfect for March Madness because the main character, Captain Shaen Morris, is completely insane.
She’s brave, crazy, dangerous… and your best shot of crossing the galaxy alive.
Captain Shaen Morris may be certifiably insane. Her ship the Belle Starr may look like a rusty, lobster-shaped piece of junk. But for the right price, they’ll get you off-world through the interdimensional portal known as “the Passage.”
When a robot shows up with some unusual cargo, Shaen questions its motivations. When it refuses to power down for the trip, she questions whether it’s worth the fare. Something appears in the deep to threaten them all, and it takes some fancy flying to get everyone out alive.
If you enjoy space westerns like Firefly, Star Trek and John Carter of Mars, you’ll like Belle Starr.
So head on over to Smashwords, where you can now pick up Belle Starr, a space western adventure story, for free for the next month. Or, if you’d like to go ahead and drop a buck in the tip jar, clicky-clicky on over to Amazon, where you can get it for a measly $.99.
