And then we do it all over again.

darth-vaderI was going to write a big “year end review” post. In fact, I had it all written out.

It was long.

I mean, a lot of stuff happened this year. Looking back, I’m not sure how all that stuff fit into one year. It feels like it should have been at least three years worth of stuff.

But then I realized, I wrote about all those things when they happened. Not really any point in recapping it now.

And I also wrote one of those “things I learned this year” lists. But really, it’s all stuff I’ve learned before. Relationships are hard. Fitting in everything you want to do is hard. It’s important to know your limits and take care of yourself. Yadda, yadda, yadda.

All stuff I already knew.

I read the blog post, and realized I hated it. So this is my do-over.

Really, that’s what the whole “new years” thing is about, isn’t it? Setting an arbitrary moment in time when you give yourself permission for a do-over. I think that may be why I have been looking forward to New Year’s more than Christmas this year. Sometimes, a do-over is the best gift you can give or receive.

I made some mistakes this year, and I made some decisions that worked out better than expected.  Same as it ever was.

Let’s reset the counter and start working on next year’s regrets and bragging rights.

I love the Talking Heads, especially their bizarre early 80s videos like this one. 🙂

I kinda suck at Year in Review posts, because it’s not a real story, it’s just stuff that happened that doesn’t necessarily go together. And I know I’ll forget something. Getting to be better friends with you has been one of the best parts of this year. I like and admire you, Kat. Keep on being who you are, you’re good at it. 🙂
